President Donald Trump surveyed the White House North Lawn on Wednesday, seeking a place to build a flag pole that is nearly 100 feet tall for the American flag.
The president plans to pay two flag poles in the White House, one for the North Lawn and one for the South Lawn, as pointed out by Dan Scavino, the White House vice-Chief of Staff.
CBS News Senior White House correspondent Waiziajang called out to Trump from his driveway in front of the West Wing.
“What are you doing, President?” she asked.
“A beautiful flag pole for the American flag,” he replied.
After inspecting the lawn for a while, Trump held an improvised press conference near the White House briefing room, where he said the White House needed a flag pole for hundreds of years.
“They needed flag poles for 200 years. That was something I often said. ‘You know, they don’t have a flag pole in their own right,” so we put one where you saw us.
“It’s going to be two beautiful poles. You’ll be paid by Trump,” he added.
Since returning to presidency, Trump has made headlines for renovations and landscaping at the White House. He renovated his oval office. This is currently abundant in gold-wrapped portraits and crops, including a gold vase above the mantle, above an oval fireplace. There is a main entrance to the oval office New York Post Front page of Trump’s iconic mugshot.
Trump also left his stamp on the South Lawn. Earlier this month he planted magnolia seedlings in place of the magnolia tree planted by Andrew Jackson, but it was removed this year for safety reasons.
Naegi “is a direct descendant of the historic ‘Jackson Magnolia’,” the White House said.
