Trump takes a jab at Prince Harry while lauding William as King Charles's 'remarkable son' during a state banquet speech

Trump’s Speech at Windsor Banquet Subtly Critiques Prince Harry

During a lavish state banquet at Windsor Castle, President Trump seemed to take a veiled jab at Prince Harry with his remarks. In a formal address to an esteemed audience, he acknowledged King Charles, Queen Camilla, Prince William, and Princess Catherine, highlighting the enduring bond between the U.S. and the U.K.

“This is genuinely one of the greatest honors of my life. I’ve respected you and your country for decades,” Trump expressed, emphasizing the king’s role in maintaining “the glorious and unique character of this kingdom.”

While commending the Prince of Wales, Trump commented on Charles raising a “surprising son.” He notably didn’t mention Harry, who distanced himself from royal duties in 2020 to live in the U.S.

Trump’s emphasis on the King’s charitable work appeared to subtly reference the Duke of Sussex. He remarked that the king is “prone to raising the poor, caring for rural farmers, and supporting injured veterans.” He also predicted that the 43-year-old future king “will have incredible success in the future.”

Moreover, Trump expressed his and Melania’s delight at reconnecting with Prince William and praised Princess Catherine for her vibrant health and beauty. “It’s a truly wonderful honor,” he added.

In the speech, Trump confidently claimed, “We had a very sick country a year ago. Today, we think we are the hottest country in the world.” He also noted, “We’ve done more for humanity than any two countries in history,” marking him as the first U.S. president invited for a second state visit to the U.K.

King Charles, in a warm address, honored his long-standing relationship with the U.S. while acknowledging the Trumps. The banquet attracted over 150 attendees, including various royals, politicians, and prominent figures from both countries.

Trump characterized U.S.-U.K. ties as “special,” a sentiment echoed by the king. This event followed a recent occasion where Charles seemingly excluded Harry from his speech during a state dinner for French President Emmanuel Macron.

During the evening, Charles spoke fondly of his family, emphasizing warmth and connection, yet there was a noticeable absence of mentions of Harry—a detail that did not go unnoticed.
