Public Support for Trump’s Deportation Policies Remains Strong
Despite ongoing media criticism of President Donald Trump’s deportation strategies, recent polling suggests that many Americans are backing his approach. According to a poll by RMG Research, commissioned by Neapolitan News Service, a significant majority of those surveyed favor Trump’s mass deportations, particularly among Republicans—with about 44% believing the efforts don’t go far enough.
Overall, 58% of Americans support the administration’s deportation initiatives, while 33% express strong support. In contrast, 35% are opposed to these mass deportations, with only 18% strongly standing against them. Interestingly, opposition to Trump’s deportation policies has decreased by three percentage points since previous polls conducted in August and July.
The divide between political parties is stark; around 88% of Republicans support the deportations, whereas 62% of Democrats are opposed. This divergence highlights the differing perspectives on immigration policies.
Given the relentless negative coverage from left-leaning media, such as MSNBC, CNN, and others, this support may seem surprising. These outlets frequently publish pieces critical of Trump’s immigration strategy, painting his approach in a particularly harsh light.
For instance, MSNBC’s Nicole Wallace recently mentioned that Trump’s administration might be facing downsides due to his “highly unpopular mass deportation plan.” Meanwhile, the New York Times drew historical parallels between current Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations and the Palmer Raids of 1919-1920, warning that Trump’s tactics could erode public trust in governmental authority.
However, it appears that many Americans may not share these concerns. In fact, they seem to support the very policies Trump was elected to implement in November 2024, especially considering the open-border situation under former President Joe Biden for four years. This could signal a backlash against the previous administration’s lax immigration stance.
Polling indicates that citizens are not looking for Trump to back down in the face of media criticism; quite the opposite, they want him to persist with his mass deportation efforts.
