Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vermont) said Sunday on NBC's “Meet the Press” that President-elect Donald Trump called him a “tin dictator” when discussing the Jan. 6 jailing of committee members. He said it sounded like a person.
“When President Trump talks about sending members of the January 6th committee to prison, he sounds like a tin-foil dictator,” Sanders said. I hope there is an FBI and Department of Justice that will do their best to protect the principles.”
Host Kristen Welker said, “I know the White House is considering the possibility of pre-emptive pardons for people who have clashed with President-elect Trump. Do you think Mr. Biden should grant pre-emptive pardons to all of the members of the January 6th Committee, given that you have said you think they should go to prison?
Sanders said, “Well, I think he might want to consider that very seriously. Look, that's an outrageous statement. This is what authoritarianism is all about, this is what dictatorship is all about. You. will not arrest elected officials who disagree with their views and conduct investigations.”
