Former President Trump said he has a “pretty good idea” about who his running mate will be, but will likely make an announcement at the Republican National Convention this summer.

President Trump spoke with Fox News’ Aisha Hasni at the Republican National Committee headquarters in Washington, D.C. on Thursday after meeting with the Republican National Senatorial Committee.

He was asked whether his chosen candidate had attended any of the meetings.

“Probably. I don’t want to go, but I think it will probably be announced during the convention,” Trump said. “During the convention. We’ve got some good people, we’ve got some very good people.”

The convention will be held in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, from July 15 to 18. Trump said Virginia Republican Governor Glenn Youngkin could be on the list of nominees.

“And I think I could consider it,” he said. “Yes. I haven’t been asked that question, but he would be on that list.”

Husney also asked Trump how he felt about President Biden as a father in the wake of Hunter Biden’s conviction on federal firearms charges.

“Yes, I think this is a very serious issue,” Trump said, referring to Biden’s history of drug addiction. “I understand the full scope of this issue. I’ve had family members with drug addiction, so I understand it very well.”

“This is very hard. This is very hard for the father,” he added. “This is very hard for the brothers. And it continues and it doesn’t stop. Whether it’s alcohol, whether it’s drugs, whether it’s whatever. This is hard. So this is a hard moment for the family. It’s a hard moment for every family that’s involved in this.”

Hunter Biden was convicted last week of three felony counts for buying a revolver in 2018 by falsely representing that he had no illegal drug use or addiction on a federal firearms purchase application.

Biden has said he does not intend to use his presidential powers to appeal his son’s conviction, and has said in the past that he is proud of his son and believes he did nothing wrong.

“As I said last week, I’m president, but I’m also a father. Jill and I love our son and we’re so proud of who he is,” Biden said after the verdict. “So many families who have had loved ones struggle with addiction understand the sense of pride they feel seeing their loved one overcome challenges and become so strong and resilient in recovery.”

Later in the interview, Trump said he had not been asked to endorse former Maryland Governor Larry Hogan, a Republican, for the U.S. Senate. Hogan supported Nikki Haley over Trump and did not support Trump in the 2016 and 2020 presidential elections.

“Yes, I would like to see him win,” Trump said. “I think he has a chance to win. I would like to see him win.”
