Trump Taps Space Force Vet Fired Under Biden in Parting Gift to AWOL Austin

President-elect Donald Trump recently announced the appointment of Space Force veteran and former fighter pilot Matthew Lohmeyer as deputy secretary of the Air Force on the same day that Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin left for the final time.

The timing may have been coincidental, but the move underscores the sweeping changes coming to the Pentagon under the incoming Trump administration.

Lohmeyer was fired as a squadron commander in May 2021 under the Biden administration after he published a book in May 2021 criticizing the Marxism that permeated the U.S. military and discussed it on a podcast. Ta.

“The diversity, inclusion, and equity industry and the training that we receive in the military is rooted in critical race theory, which is rooted in Marxism,” Lohmeyer said on the podcast.

Lohmeyer's comments are in direct conflict with the Biden administration's emphasis on diversity, equity, and inclusion.

He was relieved by the Space Force commander, Lt. Gen. Stephen Whiting, and remains in that position. Gen. CQ Brown, the current chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, was the Air Force chief of staff at the time Lohmeyer was fired.

Biden's Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin made diversity a top priority in his first year in office.

He appointed the department's first diversity, equity and inclusion adviser, created a counter-extremism task force that appears to be aimed at conservatives who support Trump, and lifted restrictions on transgender service members.

It also fired more than 8,000 soldiers who did not want to receive the coronavirus vaccine. The measure effectively targeted many soldiers who opposed the vaccine based on religious or personal freedom concerns.

As Austin made his final exit as secretary of defense, he self-congratulatoryly posted on social media a picture of Pentagon officials lining up in a hall, receiving “applause” and exiting the building.

Lohmeyer, an Air Force Academy graduate and former fighter pilot, will now be in a position to reverse the Air Force's wake-up policy, which took root during the Obama administration and has quietly spread throughout the military ever since.

President Trump announced Lohmeyer's appointment on Friday in a post on Truth Social:

Lt. Col. Matthew is pleased to announce this. Lohmeyer He will become the next deputy secretary of the U.S. Air Force.

Matt is a former fighter pilot and Space Force squadron commander who has dedicated his life to serving our great country. He is a proud graduate of the United States Air Force Academy.

Matthew will work with great Secretary of Defense candidate Pete Hegseth to end the devastating “woke” policies that destroyed our military and make our nation strong again.

Congratulations Matthew!

President Trump has vowed to fire the awakened generals, leaving their fate uncertain.

Defense secretary nominee Pete Hegseth, who is almost certain to be confirmed by securing at least 50 votes in the Senate, is scheduled to close his confirmation hearing after being asked if he would remove Brown from the job. He said this at the meeting.

“All senior leaders will be reviewed based on meritocracy, standards, lethality, and commitment to lawful orders,” he said.

Hegseth said he would focus on restoring a focus on combat techniques and standards and removing woke policies that had eroded the military's readiness.
