Trump to Kick Off Independence Day Weekend in Iowa

President Donald Trump is set to deliver a patriotic address in Iowa, marking not just the iconic July 4th weekend, but also the start of a year dedicated to celebrating 250 years of American independence.

America 250 announced plans for a celebratory event at Iowa’s fairgrounds on July 3, organized by a bipartisan committee of citizens and lawmakers focusing on the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.

In a press release from June, the organization stated, “This special event serves as the epic beginning of a year-round dynamic commemoration throughout our beautiful country. It reveals our vision of a new commitment to America’s future.”

On Tuesday, Trump confirmed his travel plans to Des Moines for what he described as a “very special event.”

“I’m excited to be heading to one of my favorite places on July 3rd to kick off the celebration of our 250th anniversary,” Trump announced on social media.

He expressed gratitude to Iowans, saying, “Iowa voted for me three times because they appreciate my policies for farmers and small businesses. They love America.” Trump also mentioned the achievements he’s made, especially regarding trade and agricultural interests.

This celebration follows a military parade Trump organized on June 14 to honor the 250th anniversary of the U.S. military, featuring tanks, military overpasses, and impressive fireworks over the National Mall in Washington, D.C. Conveniently, this event coincided with Trump’s 79th birthday.

“Other nations celebrate their victories, and America should do the same. That’s what we’re doing tonight,” Trump remarked during the parade.

Dedicating this event, Trump acknowledged the sacrifices of countless Army soldiers throughout history and spoke about families who have lost loved ones in service.

The festivities scheduled for July 3 will include many patriotic events on America 250’s calendar. Upcoming initiatives like the Great American Road Trip encourage Americans to explore the country’s highways, while plans for historical reenactments celebrate events like George Washington’s July 4th festivities and pivotal battles.

As the celebrations unfold, America 250 stated, “This crucial gathering in the Heartland signifies the beginning of an extraordinary year. We’ll unite our nation through events in every state and territory, culminating in the most monumental celebration our nation has ever experienced.”
