Trump treated like royalty during state visit to Windsor Castle, say experts

During his state visit, Donald Trump enjoyed a stay at Windsor Castle, which is quite significant for the US president. On Tuesday, he accompanied by First Lady Melania, arrived in the UK where Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper welcomed them. They spent the night at the castle, with no public events planned for the evening. However, festivities are set to begin on Wednesday when they will be hosted by Charles III. Before their arrival, extensive preparations took place, with a large team ensuring everything was in place for their royal welcome.

British police have implemented extensive drone operations around Windsor Castle as part of security measures for Trump’s visit. According to British royal expert Hilary Fordwich, Trump and his wife will stay in one of the opulent guest suites, typically reserved for heads of state, which offers privacy and comfort. Their stay is also marked by traditional offerings, including Windsor’s famed ‘Royal Blends’ tea, a full military honor guard, and a much-anticipated banquet in St. George’s Hall.

Fordwich mentioned the significance of the castle itself, noting its historical importance since it was established by William the Conqueror in 1070. It has served as a royal residence and has been expanded and modified over the centuries, notably by King Edward III and recently used by the late Queen Elizabeth II during the pandemic.

It’s amusing to think about Trump and Melania resting in such majestic surroundings, adorned with historical art of kings and queens. A British broadcaster, Helena Chard, commented on this, imagining the grandeur around them.

At the banquet, guests are expected to dress in formal attire, with men in white ties and tailcoats, while women may opt for designer gowns—an affair where elegance is key. Darren McGrady, a former royal chef, elaborated on the strict etiquette expected during dining, emphasizing how certain fruits should be consumed carefully. This represents not just tradition but the sophistication associated with royal events.

Forwarding to the essence of the visit, Trump himself expressed honor in being hosted at Windsor, highlighting his personal friendship with the king. He reflected on the special nature of this visit, aiming to strengthen ties between the US and the UK amid a rich backdrop of royal history. The visit further underscores Trump’s unique position as the first US president invited for two state visits, a testament to the ongoing relationship between the two nations.
