Former President Donald Trump has a wide lead over Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris in key battleground states, according to the latest polls.
of Suffolk/USA TODAY Poll Researchers found that Arizona voters were more likely to support Trump by a wide 6 percentage point margin.
“I feel like the other side has no understanding of what to do with the economy.”
Mr. Trump received support from 48.8% of respondents, but only 42.8% said they supported Ms. Harris.
This lead is backed up by poll results from Maricopa County, considered a bellwether for the state. Among likely voters in the county, Trump beat Harris by a four-point margin, 47% to 43%.
Inflation and the economy are top concerns among respondents, with just 39% saying they are better off than they were four years ago, and a majority (52%) saying they are worse off.
“The economy is a big issue for me. It's a big issue for me,” said Trent Kaye, a Republican voter. “I feel like the other side has no understanding of what to do with the economy or how to handle foreign policy.”
Immigration is also a top issue for voters in opinion polls.
Despite the good news for Trump in the state, the polls were disappointing for Republicans aiming to take back the Senate. Incumbent Democratic Congressman Ruben Gallego is defeating Republican candidate Kari Lake in the race for the Arizona Senate seat currently held by Kyrsten Sinema. Gallego has a six-point lead in the poll, in line with other polls, including Fox News.
