Trump Comments on Ocasio-Cortez
In a recent television interview, President Trump gave what some might call a backhanded compliment to Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. He acknowledged her somewhat, saying, “Her philosophy is very bad. She’s a little brave. She’s doing good,” during his inaugural episode of “The Sunday Briefing” on Fox News.
He mentioned former Representative Joe Crowley, who had warned Trump that Ocasio-Cortez could win if he didn’t campaign hard enough. Trump added that while she has a certain something about her, her ideas could be detrimental to the nation.
Referring to a report regarding Ocasio-Cortez’s potential presidential ambitions for 2028, Trump expressed skepticism, suggesting that her philosophy would not lead her to success. Ocasio-Cortez gained considerable attention during the Democratic wave in 2018, which seems to have solidified her status within the party.
Back then, she was working as a bartender, a fact that resonates with her narrative as a representative of the working class. Former Vice President Kamala Harris commended her in an upcoming memoir, highlighting the engaging atmosphere she creates and her connection with everyday voters.
Interestingly, Trump couldn’t recall meeting Ocasio-Cortez but remarked that it might be beneficial for both of them to engage. He made a somewhat contradictory statement, saying he thought Harris had performed better than him in their respective campaigns while maintaining he was generally a good person, despite public perception.
Historically, the relationship between Trump and Ocasio-Cortez has been contentious. Following a rally incident where a bullet came close to hitting him, Ocasio-Cortez labeled him a fascist and has spoken against many of his policies and approaches, including accusations of racism and other divisive rhetoric.
It seems many are speculating whether she’s contemplating a run for president or perhaps a Senate seat in the future. So far, Ocasio-Cortez’s team has not provided any comments regarding these developments.
