The Senate approved the budget proposal for Donald Trump’s agenda.
As reported by ABC, “this will initiate the next phase in the settlement process and permit both House and Senate committees to start drafting legislation aimed at fulfilling Republican priorities.”
Next, it needs to go to the House for submission.
After approximately six hours of votes with amendments, the Senate passed the budget proposal early Saturday morning with a 51-48 result.
Republican Senators Rand Paul and Susan Collins opposed the resolution. Every other Republican in the Chamber of Commerce supported it, while all Democrats voted against.
The resolution only needs a simple majority to pass, so it is now heading to the House for further consideration.
If the House also agrees to the proposal, it will activate the next stage in the settlement process, allowing both House and Senate committees to start drafting laws that address Republican priorities, including raising debt limits, enhancing border security, and the tax payments from President Donald Trump’s 2017 budget.
Donald Trump has urged the House to approve the budget proposal.
“The bill thoroughly addresses all the essential components to secure borders, implement significant spending cuts, and make tax reductions permanent,” Trump stated.
I fully endorse the budget proposal recently passed by the US Senate. All crucial elements to secure borders, enforce significant spending cuts, and establish permanent tax cuts are clearly featured in the bill. A big thanks to Senate Majority Leader John Toon and House Speaker Mike Johnson for their dedication and meticulous work. There’s no better moment to finalize this agreement than now! With the House, Senate, and our fantastic administrations working diligently to put together “big, beautiful bills,” Congress can expect a positive outcome. This will lead to smoother processes and benefits for the US and even global trade, so it’s imperative that the House passes this budget plan to make America great again!
Send the bill!
