Trump visits NYC crypto bar, bitcoin rises

Former President Trump visited a crypto-themed bar in Manhattan during a campaign stop on Wednesday night, just days after announcing a new crypto venture.

While at Pubkey, the Republican presidential candidate used Bitcoin to pay for burgers for attendees, with the bill running to more than $900, according to The Wall Street Journal.

The video showed Trump making cryptocurrency transactions over the phone.

“One of the most historic transactions in #bitcoin history has just taken place,” PubKey said in a post by X on Wednesday night. “President @realDonaldTrump buying burgers with @tpacchia at @PubKey_NYC.”

The Greenwich Village bar said it was the “first presidential visit” to the establishment.

The visit to PUBKEY comes at a time when President Trump is seeking support from the crypto community during his 2024 presidential campaign. The former president also entered the crypto industry himself this week, announcing his own crypto project, World Liberty Financial.

“To all the crypto nerds, 'crypto maniacs' as I call them, because they really do believe this, go vote. You can't lose if you vote,” Trump said during a visit to Pubkey. “I want to bring together all the people who agree with you. There are a lot of people who agree with what you're doing. You've been treated very badly at the SEC. We're going to treat you very fairly. You've got to go vote.”

Cryptocurrency advocacy group mobilizes 100,000 votes as election day approaches

On Thursday morning, the day after President Trump's visit to Pubkey, Bitcoin was up slightly and trading around $63,100.

This marks an increase of more than 43% since the beginning of the year.
