On Friday afternoon, New York was bustling as usual, but something was different. Former President Donald Trump had been convicted of 34 felonies the day before. Many legal experts have noted that the trial was, at the very least, unusually unfair. It’s no exaggeration to say that America has entered a new era.
Naturally, there was outrage from Trump supporters and independent-minded Americans who saw the ruling as another point of no return for what the republic stands for. Those days are long gone, and have been for some time now.
Whether you call it a dual justice system or anarcho-tyranny, it’s clear that these far-left groups are able to do what they want with little to no repercussions.
Outside Trump Tower, protesters gathered to show their support for the Republican front-runner, but Manhattan is a black city, so some Joe Biden supporters showed up to celebrate Trump being convicted. Insults were hurled from both sides, and the NYPD had to keep an eye on them to make sure they didn’t get too close.
To keep the peace, police eventually decided to move the protesters away from the main entrance of Trump Tower. Some Trump supporters complained about the decision, but they complied. There was no major violence on Friday, nor on Thursday, when the verdict was handed down. Despite the anger, their energy was focused on winning the election in November.

Compare this to the ongoing anti-Israel and anti-US protests, which also took place across the bridge in Brooklyn. Crowds started at Barclays Center and marched through the neighborhood, arriving in front of the Brooklyn Museum. Rioters tried to occupy the building to pressure the museum to heed their demands. Some people made it inside, but NYPD officers were called in to prevent more people from entering the building.
Protesters turned on the police, creating another tense situation. Police quickly began making arrests, and the crowd became enraged. People surrounded the police to prevent them from taking away the arrested, leading to more fights between police and the crowd. Bottles were thrown at the police, more arrests and more anger and screams from anti-Israel groups.

The New York Police Department has faced one difficult situation after another since the Oct. 7 Hamas attacks in Israel. Mass protests have erupted almost daily in one part of the five boroughs, drawing manpower away from a department struggling with a crime wave.
In the end, others taking part in similar protests were quickly released, making it unlikely that the arrested protesters would face any retaliation.
The far-left continues to cause unrest in major cities as a direct result of the Black Lives Matter and Antifa riots of 2020. Democrats like to highlight the Capitol riots of January 6, 2021, but that was a one-day event. In contrast, the far-left orchestrated some of the most destructive riots in recent memory during that tumultuous year. These protesters continue to disrupt ordinary Americans trying to go about their daily lives, shutting down traffic on key roads and blocking airports.
The area around the White House has already been attacked twice by these extremist groups, and another attack is possible on Saturday as anti-Israel groups call for a “siege” of the White House.
Whether you call it a dual justice system or anarcho-tyranny, it is clear that these far-left groups are able to do as they please with little to no repercussions. Continuing to allow this level of differential treatment will have a detrimental effect on the health of the nation and will deteriorate the overall peace we take for granted beyond sustainable levels.
