Trump vows to get to Iowa ‘one way or the other’ despite weather concerns

Former President Trump vowed Friday that he would arrive in Iowa, the nation's first caucus state, “one way or another” despite weather concerns that could affect turnout.

The former president addressed supporters via video, saying he would arrive in the Hawkeye State around “Saturday night” and urging them to caucus on his behalf on Monday, Jan. 15.

“I think we're getting there in the worst weather in history anyway, but maybe that's a good thing because our people are as committed as anyone else,” Trump said. No,” he said. “So that might actually be a good thing for us.”

Trump's video was released after other Republican candidates campaigning in Iowa were forced to postpone or cancel events just before Monday's caucuses.

A campaign event where a freezing cold snowstorm covers your knees.

Former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley (R), the state's second-highest vote-getter, was forced to cancel in-person events, but was able to hold three telephone town halls. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (Republican) did not fare much better. His affiliated super PAC Never Back Down had to postpone events in Marshalltown and Clear Lake.

Aside from Friday's snowstorm, temperatures on caucus night are expected to be in the mid-teens, and many wonder if that will affect the number of people who participate in the election, and ultimately the outcome. I'm wondering.

Later in the video, Trump predicted another win in the Iowa caucuses and lashed out at his potential general election rival, President Biden, calling him “the worst president in history.”

“We're going to have a great victory, and we're going to beat crooked Joe Biden, the worst president our country has ever had, even in a contest,” Trump said.

Trump is the leading Republican candidate in Iowa. According to a tally of 46 polls compiled by The Hill/Decision Desk Headquarters, the former president has a 37-point lead over second place Haley with 17.4%. DeSantis, who has been actively campaigning in the state, is currently in third place with 15.9%.
