Trump warns agency leaders against ‘wasteful spending’ in new memo

President Donald Trump issued a slight warning to officials on Tuesday, ordering agency leaders to be “fundamentally transparent” about spending.

The White House published a memo Tuesday afternoon entitled “Radical Transparency on Waste Expenses,” directed at the executive branch and heads of the agency.

The memo begins with the claim that the US government is “expending too much money on programs, contracts and grants that do not promote the interests of the American people.”

“For too long, taxpayers have been granting ideological projects by international and domestic organizations engaged in behaviours that undermine the national interest,” the memo continues. “The American people have seen taxes being used to fund passion projects for unelected bureaucrats rather than pushing forward the national interest.”

The memo came as Trump's Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) committee continued to audit government agencies on its mission to reduce waste. On Monday night, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt appeared on “Hannity” and expressed his support for Doge's audit.
