President Trump warned Tuesday that if Americans escalate to “World War II,” it could “exist” in the Russian-Ukraine War.
“We want to get through that,” Trump said of the war.
Trump, 78, sat with a Fox News host at the White House hours after a long call with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Meanwhile, Putin rejected the president's proposal for a completely unconditional ceasefire with Ukraine, but he “consented to halt the attacks on energy and infrastructure.
“Now you have a lot of guns pointing at each other, and it would have been tough to have a ceasefire without moving forward a little further,” Trump told Ingraham.
“Russia has an advantage, as we know it has around 2,500. [Ukrainian] The president insisted. “They're surrounded well and that's not good.”
Trump suggested that his push for a wider ceasefire is rooted in protecting US troops from potentially large conflicts.
“Look, we're doing this. There's no American involved. If it's World War II about this, it's so ridiculous,” the president explained.
“But you know, something strange happens,” he warned.
Trump described his conversation with 72-year-old Putin as “great,” pointing out that it lasted “almost two hours.”
“[We] Trump said. “We talked about other things too,” Trump said.
Later in the interview, Trump dispels a rare public responsibilities from Supreme Court Judge John Roberts in response to his social media post asking U.S. District Judge James Boasberg to temporarily block the use of the Alien Enemy Act of 1798 and force members of immigrant gangs.
“Well, he didn't mention my name in the statement. I saw it right away. He didn't mention my name,” Trump said of Roberts' statement on Tuesday.
“But a lot of people are calling for his bullet each. This judge's bullet each. I don't know who the judge is, but he's a radical departure,” the president says of Boasberg, claiming that removing criminal immigrants and gang members is “the president's job… it's not for local judges to make that decision.”
