Trump warns that Iran’s ‘civilization will end tonight’ as strike looms

Senator Sheldon Whitehouse, D-R.I., describes Trump's 25th Amendment effort as 'unrealistic.'

Trump Warns of Civilizational Ruin Amid Iran Tensions

On Tuesday, Donald Trump shared a concerning message via Truth Social, hinting that “the entire civilization will perish tonight” due to significant US threats against Iran’s infrastructure, particularly its bridges and power plants.

Trump stated, “An entire civilization will perish tonight and never come back. I don’t want this to occur, but it’s likely.” He also expressed a glimmer of hope, suggesting that with a “complete and total regime change,” perhaps something transformative could emerge. “Tonight, we will understand that it is one of the most crucial moments in the long and intricate history of the world. After 47 years of extortion and corruption, maybe things will finally change. God bless the great people of Iran!” he added.

Islamic Republic Dismisses Ceasefire Demand

In response, Iranian official Alireza Rahimi released a video urging all sectors of society, including youth, artists, and academics, to form a human chain around a power plant.

Earlier, on Easter Sunday, Trump had threatened actions against power plants and bridges in Iran, excitedly declaring it “Power Plant Day and Bridge Day” in his post.

Impending Actions and Warnings

On Monday, Trump went further, suggesting a plan to destroy every bridge and power plant in Iran, ensuring they would be “inoperable, in flames, exploded, never to be used again” by midnight. He commented that, while he didn’t wish for this to happen, it seemed imminent.

Former National Counterterrorism Center Director Joe Kent, who resigned due to his opposition to the war in Iran, cautioned that Trump’s aggressive strategy risks undermining the United States’ status as a global superpower.

Concerns Over U.S. Global Stability

Joe Kent argued, “If Trump aims to obliterate Iranian civilization, the US will be seen more as a source of chaos rather than a stabilizing force, which could jeopardize our position as the world’s leading superpower.” He stressed the need for serious negotiations over reckless aggression, pointing out that the consequences could be devastating for the global economy and geopolitical stability.
