Trump Meets Freed Israeli Hostages at the White House
President Donald Trump welcomed released Israeli hostages who were captured by Hamas, along with their families, at the White House on Thursday. In this emotional meeting, he interacted with 17 individuals who were freed a month ago, presenting them with presidential challenge coins as a symbol of appreciation.
During his speech, Trump stated, “You are no longer hostages. From today on, you are heroes. We love you all, and our country loves you all. You are wonderful people.”

One of the attendees, Matan Angrest, a police officer, was taken while on guard duty at the Nahal Oz outpost. His mother previously mentioned on Channel 12 that he endured severe torture while in captivity. Trump recounted the difficult experiences Matan faced, saying, “As a result of his service in the Israel Defense Forces, Mr. Matan was subjected to severe beatings, at times causing him to lose consciousness.” He acknowledged the resilience shown by Matan during his ordeal, describing him as a testament to the strength and faith of the Jewish people.
Twins Present Token of Gratitude
Israeli twins Gali and Ziv Berman also attended and shared their gratitude with Trump for his efforts in securing their release. They handed over the original mezuzah from their home in Kfar Aza, where they were taken on October 7, 2023. In their statement, they emphasized that the mission isn’t over since three deceased hostages remain in Gaza, highlighting the need for their return before society can heal.
The twins conveyed a heartfelt message in a letter to Trump, explaining the significance of the mezuzah, which they lovingly removed from their home in the aftermath of the horrors their community faced. They hope that it serves as a powerful symbol of protection and faith, reflecting gratitude for Trump’s actions and the enduring friendship between their peoples.
