In celebration of its 249th birthday, the White House is hosting military personnel and B-2 pilots who conducted a mission targeting Iran’s nuclear facilities. White House Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt announced that President Trump has invited these pilots to his residence, where their service will be honored.
“President Trump is eager to commemorate the founding of our nation in the capital on Friday,” Leavitt mentioned. “In line with this, the US Air Force will showcase advanced aircraft such as the F-22, B-2, and F-35 during the celebrations.
While Trump is anticipated to address the event, there is still uncertainty regarding the release of the B-2 pilots. Military officials indicated to ABC News that those involved in sensitive operations are cautioned about the implications of revealing their identities.
The B-2 pilots were key participants in “Operation Midnight Hammer,” executing long-range strikes on Iranian nuclear sites, a mission that garnered global attention until completion.
On another note, the traditional Washington, DC event called “A Capitol Fourth” is set to take place, featuring nightly fireworks and musical performances across various genres, including gospel, pop, R&B, and classical music. Alfonso Ribeiro will return as host, with PBS providing live coverage.
Featured artists include the Beach Boys, Lauren Daigle, Yolanda Adams, The Temptations, Josh Turner, Trombone Shorty, Locash, and Abicarter, who was the winner of American Idol Season 22.
This year’s event also acknowledges the 250th anniversary of the Army, Navy, and Marine Corps, alongside commemorating 80 years since the conclusion of World War II.
