Trump to Address Nation on Iran Conflict
President Donald Trump is set to speak to the country Wednesday night at 9 p.m. ET, delivering a crucial update regarding the ongoing situation with Iran.
As tensions intensified and diplomatic efforts faltered, the U.S. military initiated targeted strikes against Iran on February 28. From his Mar-a-Lago estate, Trump announced “large-scale and ongoing” Operation Epic Fury. White House press secretary Caroline Levitt mentioned on the X show that Trump would detail the administration’s approach and progress as U.S. military actions continue in the Middle East, with the conflict now entering its fifth week and ongoing assaults on Iranian targets.
Tuning in for the address, Levitt tweeted about the update on Iran.
The conflict has significantly impacted global dynamics, especially within the oil market, where gasoline prices have surged beyond $4 per gallon. The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has responded by closing the Strait of Hormuz, halting worldwide oil shipments. Since the onset of this conflict, Brent crude, which is the international benchmark, has increased by over $30, driving up gas prices in the U.S. by about 24 cents per gallon for every $10 rise, with prices as of March 31 hovering around $106 per barrel.
On Tuesday, the Revolutionary Guards issued a warning targeting American tech firms, accusing them of engaging in actions against Iran. According to a statement from Tasnim news agency, 18 companies—including Tesla, Palantir, and Microsoft—were identified as being “involved in terrorist activities” against the nation.
In their statement, they asserted, “Major institutions involved in terrorist operations will be legitimate targets of our operations,” urging employees at these companies to vacate their workplaces to ensure their safety.
