Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Michael Whatley said, Breitbart News Daily Former President Donald Trump is leading the polls because he is beating Vice President Kamala Harris on the issues voters care about most: the economy, safety and jobs.
Whatley said: Breitbart News Daily Moderator Mike Slater made the remarks ahead of Tuesday night's debate between President Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris.
The Republican National Committee chairman noted that the debate gives ABC the opportunity to host a serious debate between Trump and Harris.
“ABC had an opportunity tonight to do some serious reporting. They had an opportunity tonight to step out and be a serious news organization. I have to give CNN credit because that's exactly what they did in the last debate with Joe Biden, and they did some serious reporting,” he said. Breitbart News Daily.
He added: “If they don't, it will be obvious that they are trying to take advantage of the situation.”
A Marist/NPR/PBS News poll released Tuesday found that Trump and Harris are currently neck and neck nationwide.

Trump Earned A Marist/NPR/PBS News poll conducted Aug. 1-4 showed Harris' approval rating among voters in races with third-party candidates at 45 percent, a 3-point increase since then. The poll found Harris three points behind with 48 percent approval. Harris' approval rating rose 1 percentage point after the Democratic National Convention, but has since fallen 2 points since August.
In the last poll, independent Robert F. Kennedy Jr. also received 5 percent support. He has since stopped campaigning and endorsed Trump, and the impact of that support appears to have been evident in the September poll.
A Quinnipiac University poll showed Trump leading Harris in Georgia by more than the poll's margin of error of 4 percentage points.
“The American people have made their voting concerns clear: the economy, jobs, safety and security, and Donald Trump is winning the polls on every one of these issues,” Whatley said.
