Trump, Zelenskyy White House meeting leaves pro-Ukraine Republicans stunned

House Republicans supporting Ukraine were on alert after an explosive oval office meeting ended with Kiev leaders who were kicked out of the White House.

“The United States is now on the other side of this war against freedom,” R-NE Rep. Don Bacon told Fox News Digital.

Bacon compared President Donald Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance to Democrats during the Cold War era, when Republicans were quite a number of Hawkish parties in Russia.

“Trump and Vance have sounded like Democrats since the 1970s and 1980s. The role reversal. I'm still with Reagan,” Bacon said.

Black Caucus Chairs accused Trump of “purge” of “minority” federal workers

Another GOP lawmaker gave both sides anonymity to speak of their free responsibilities and called the conference “a missed opportunity and a big victory for Vladimir Putin for both Ukraine and the United States.”

Zelensky is expected to sign a contract with Trump on Friday, allowing the US access to revenues from Ukraine's key mineral supply.

But it appears to have distorted the course after a very spiritual meeting on both sides, with both sides telling Zelensky that Trump is acting “ungrately” for US aid to Russian invasion.

“You don't have cards now. With us, you start holding cards,” Trump told him. “You're gambling with World War II, and what you're doing is very rude to the country.”

Vance accused Zelenskyy of trying to sue the matter in front of the US media, adding, “Please provide a word of thanks to the president who is trying to save the United States and your country.”

Zelenskyy said, “Have you been to Ukraine? Have you seen the problems we have? Have you come once?”

Sources who spoke with Fox News Digital said the meeting surprised them and were interested in Ukraine's future.

“Sane Republicans are offended,” a Republican foreign policy source told Fox News Digital. “[The Russian government] We break any agreement, deceive, lie, and come back immediately when we look away. If Trump thinks that his relationship with Putin will change Russia's thinking for a thousand years, he will find a difficult way. ”

“What happened in the White House today was a dishonorable. We are actively promoting President Putin and handing over our strength and global leadership by turning our backs on Ukraine,” the senior house GOP aide said.

“I write about X as someone who basically believes that Russia, China and Iran are not our friends or allies, but as someone who believes that it is important to support Ukraine, and as someone who is incredible with either of the others,” said Mike Lawler (RN.Y.).

However, the majority of GOP lawmakers who spoke publicly praised Trump and Vance.

“There's no longer a time when foreign leaders roam us and sniff us with American generosity. There's a new president and a vice president in town. It would be wise for world leaders to humble themselves.”

“The United States is not used, and America is never taken for granted. We are grateful that President Trump and Vice President Vance have stood in America,” R-FL's House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Brian Mast said in a statement.

A source close to Vance told Fox News Digital after the meeting that the combativeness during the meeting was from Zelenskyy and was “unexpected” by Trump and Vance.

“The Vice President and President did not expect Zelensky to engage in such rude behavior,” a source close to Vance said.

When contacted to comment by Fox News Digital, the White House pointed to Trump's statement about the meeting posted to Truth Social.

“We held a very meaningful meeting at the White House today. Under such fire and pressure, we learned a lot that we couldn't understand without conversation,” Trump wrote. “It's amazing how it comes out through emotions, and President Zelensky has decided that if America is involved he is not ready for peace. He feels our involvement is giving him a great advantage in negotiations. I don't want peace.

But former top Trump critic Adam Kintzinger, a former top Trump critic who recently said he's beginning to identify more with Democrats, wrote that “Zelenkey made Trump look a bit like a b—.”
