‘Trump’s Arch’: Trump reveals 3D designs for D.C. Grand Entrance Arch, supported by private contributions

Trump Proposes Construction of Arch in D.C. for 250th Anniversary

President Donald Trump has unveiled plans for a significant new structure, an “Arc de Triomphe,” to be located in Washington, D.C., near the Lincoln Memorial and Arlington Memorial Bridge. This project aims to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States National Day in 2026.

At a fundraising dinner for donors on Wednesday, Trump expressed gratitude for the support, emphasizing that the ballroom expansion at the White House represents a worthwhile investment. The upcoming addition is expected to be a key feature for official events.

“We’re going to build a room where we could literally hold an inauguration if we wanted to,” Trump remarked, noting the bulletproof glass design and capacity of 999 people.

The president showcased a model of the arch during the dinner, which will be situated along Arlington Memorial Bridge, connecting the Lincoln Memorial to a nearby cemetery.

This arch initiative is set to rely completely on private donations instead of taxpayer money. Trump suggested that excess funds from the ballroom project could be allocated to support the arch’s construction.

“It’s going to be really beautiful. I think it’s going to be amazing,” he stated while presenting the model. “I have a rendering of what it’s going to look like. It comes in three sizes. You’ll look good in any of them. I happen to be the larger one.”

Interestingly, a reporter referred to one of the miniature models in a social media post, dubbing it “Trump’s Arc,” which has sparked conversations about the project.

The proposed arch is inspired by the Arc de Triomphe in Paris, a neoclassical monument commissioned by Napoleon Bonaparte in the early 19th century to honor French military victories. It follows the design of classical Roman triumphal arches, like the Arch of Constantine, which celebrated significant military achievements.

Throughout Western history, triumphal arches have represented national power and identity. The upcoming D.C. arch is part of a broader initiative by Trump to enhance the capital.

Recent enhancements in D.C. include improvements to the Rose Garden by the National Park Service and decorative upgrades in the Oval Office, all funded privately.

Earlier this year, Trump also called in the National Guard to address crime in the city and to contribute to beautification efforts near the Capitol.
