Washington Post Defends Trump’s White House Construction

The Pro-Trump News homepage is updated with 60 new headlines every day. It’s worth a look, for sure.

Interestingly, even the Washington Post is countering some recent Democratic criticisms of Donald Trump.

The Washington Post Editorial Board has given a nod to Trump’s renovation involving the East Wing of the White House.

The Hill reported:

The Washington Post Editorial Board supported President Trump’s controversial plan to demolish part of the White House.

“The White House shouldn’t serve solely as a relic. Like the nation it represents, it needs to adapt to the times to retain its significance. Strong leaders resist stagnation, and in this regard, Trump’s actions challenge NIMBY attitudes everywhere,” the board stated in an op-ed on Saturday.

“Trump is following in the footsteps of many previous presidents who have made their mark on the White House,” they added.

“For instance, Theodore Roosevelt replaced the greenhouse with the West Wing, William Howard Taft established the first Oval Office in 1909, and Richard Nixon turned the pool into a press conference room back in 1970,” the editorial board noted.

Interestingly, they highlighted that even some Democrats recognized the necessity of such a space for events.

They continued, “Many former staff from the Biden and Obama administrations secretly agree on the long-overdue requirement for an event space like the one Trump is developing… The next Democratic president would likely welcome it.”

Fox News reported:

On Sunday, the Washington Post Editorial Board backed Trump’s initiative to create a banquet hall, suggesting that future Democratic leaders would appreciate it too.

“In true Trump style, the president is advocating for a sensible concept in the least agreeable manner. Numerous former Biden and Obama White House alumni have quietly recognized the pressing demand for event spaces like the one Trump is constructing. It seems absurd that tents need to be set up on the South Lawn for formal dinners while guests utilize portable toilets,” they mentioned.

“The State Dining Room accommodates 140 guests. The East Room holds about 200. Trump’s proposed ballroom, part of a 90,000-square-foot expansion, can seat 999—a facility any future Democratic president would surely appreciate,” the board elaborated.

Maybe Trump was onto something!
