Trump’s Choices ‘Random Brain Sparks,’ ‘Like Playing Normal Chess’

Former national security adviser John Bolton shared his thoughts on CNN’s Anderson Cooper 360, describing President Donald Trump’s decision-making as a “flash of random neurons.”

Bolton pointed out, “Trump lacks any real philosophy or national security strategy. He hasn’t followed through on policies. Instead, he sought loyalty, which is why he brought in people like Waltz and others.”

In response, Cooper noted that this seems to be part of a pattern, recalling Bolton’s experiences during his first term with Trump’s approach to national security and foreign policy.

Bolton agreed, stating, “Indeed, these are random neuronal flashes, which definitely doesn’t support the idea that Trump is playing three-dimensional chess, as some of his supporters claim.”

Cooper reacted, saying, “Wow, that’s kind of scary.”

Bolton added, “I’ll say it’s quite challenging to navigate the government under the Trump administration. It feels more like being in a pinball machine than developing a coherent national security policy.”
