Sen. Tim Kane (D-VA) on CNN's “lead” on Thursday claimed that the Trump administration's move was something like a “war with veterans.”
Host Jake Tupper said: I think you hear from the fact that your district workers are directly influenced by many of your members, who are veterans. ”
Kane said, “You're right. And look, I'll give you a punchline, this is a war with veterans. Indiscriminate employment of federal employees without strategy, climbs veterans. More than any other group you pointed out, over 30% of the federal workforce is veterans, and over half of them are disabled veterans. Then let me add to it. The administration has decided to chase probation employees. That is, new employees, new employees. There are two types of members. They are career switchers where young people enter the workforce as young workers or later in life. Who are the carriers, switchers, who are probation? They are veterans, and veterans are 25 years old, 5, 20 years old. They participate in federal civilian services. But when they first became civilian employees who were probationers, they have already served a lot of their country.
He added: Then they added VA cuts and veterans are now being punished in a very awful way. ”
