Whistleblower Rewards Program Announced by Trump Administration

Whistleblowers reporting financial fraud may soon see significant rewards as part of a new initiative by the Trump administration.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent revealed on Monday that a program will be launched to financially reward whistleblowers who provide valuable information regarding fraud, money laundering, sanctions violations, and other issues related to national security.

“The scale of this is incredible,” he commented.

The Financial Crimes Enforcement Network, part of the Ministry of Finance, has submitted proposed rules to implement these new initiatives.

Under this program, whistleblowers could receive between 10% and 30% of the fines collected from offenders they reported.

This announcement aligns with President Donald Trump’s ongoing efforts to combat fraud, an issue that has gained traction lately due to investigative work by journalist Nick Shirley in Minnesota and California.

“As promised, the Treasury Department will reward those who provide timely and actionable insights into fraud, sanctions violations, and other serious illegal financial activities,” Bessent stated. He emphasized that President Trump is determined to ensure that tax dollars are not misused, either to support terrorism or enrich fraudsters. The Treasury is actively monitoring funds and urges citizens to report reliable tips to safeguard the nation’s financial system.

The Ministry of Finance has already gathered over 700 leads, according to Bessent.

In a recent interview, he noted that much of the financial fraud observed can be traced back to issues related to coronavirus relief.

“Several agencies under the Biden administration reduced their fraud detection capabilities to expedite the distribution of relief funds, but they haven’t reinstated the necessary oversight. We need to maintain the integrity of these programs,” he explained.

Bessent projected that the federal government might recover hundreds of billions in wasted taxpayer funds.

Once again, he reiterated, “The scale is incredible.”

Vice President J.D. Vance has been appointed to lead a new task force aimed at tackling fraud. Recently, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services announced the suspension of 70 hospice and home health care providers as part of this initiative to identify high-risk providers.

“Vice President Vance is committed to addressing misconduct at the presidential level,” a spokesperson stated. “Americans deserve services that truly benefit them, not exploitation by individuals who undermine this country.”
