In the aftermath of last weekend’s assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump, which nearly plunged America into another Franz Ferdinand-like crisis but was fortunate enough to avoid, here are my big thoughts.
Praying privately for Donald Trump
I sincerely hope and pray that Mr. Trump will use this moment as a catalyst to surrender his life completely to God, just as Ronald Reagan did 43 years ago when he was nearly assassinated. What a testimony that would be, and it comes at the very moment when not only we, but the whole world, needs such a leader in America. It would be a Romans 8:28 moment.
Many years ago, I was in a car accident that nearly killed me. I was an unbeliever, a college dropout, and working for a temp agency. And even at 22 (let alone 78, like Trump), it caused me to radically reevaluate my life, and God used that as a step to get me to where I am today. President Trump’s Sunday morning statement It’s one of the best pieces he’s ever put out, it’s really moving and presidential.
I hope this will awaken people to the real threats we face.
I sincerely hope and pray that God will use this moment to awaken our people to the urgency of our times. If Trump had not turned his head and the bullet had struck just centimeters differently, our current (and very important) differences would have seemed inconsequential in an instant. Moreover, if Trump had called his family or other dignitaries onto the stage as he normally does, they might have become targets.
God bless you, because the next few months until Trump returns could be even more hectic and chaotic than they are now.
The attack was not just directed at Trump, but at everyone. The darkness is growing. Grandmothers in Tennessee face prison time for praying and protesting barbarism. Patriots who did not commit violence on January 6th are still rotting in concentration camps in Washington or living as exiles in their own countries. We have seen the attempted character attacks on Justice Brett Kavanaugh and actual assassination attempts on Family Study Conferences and baseball-playing Republicans. The “alternative” rhetoric that the Spirit of the Age has injected into the water table and soul of the Democratic Party is, as Obama’s former pastor once said, “coming home to its nest.”
As I have been saying for the past few years, time is running out to peacefully and proactively use the political process to meaningfully counter this darkness. I don’t know how many more warning shots are needed, or how many more we have left. But let’s pray that now is the time to overcome our fear of our woke wives, our own cowardice, and our fear of losing jobs we hate, and become a people who refuse to lose the country we love while we still have the chance. This opportunity will not last forever.
Pray for our country
As I said after the presidential debate in June, when Joe Biden’s capabilities start to wane and the world sees the possibility of the guy signing the Abraham Accords and dropping the MOAB coming back, our adversaries must understand they don’t have time. How will they respond? Will they accelerate their plans while they still can?
The world has become more dangerous since June 27th, and now it is even more so. The Democrats must realize that this close call will further rally the nation to Trump. Moreover, the Democratic Party is now in disarray due to Biden’s unfitness.
God bless you, because the next few months until Trump returns could be even more hectic and chaotic than they are now.
Pray for your enemies
Finally, the Democrats have been mocking the thoughts and prayers of the people for so many years. Now they have a chance to set an example. Please pray that God would use this moment to prompt the Democrats and their media-industrial complex to seriously reconsider their tactics, such as endless gaslighting, memory holes, un-American laws against opponents, and dehumanizing those who disagree by labeling them as racists, insurrectionists, and literally Hitlers, Nazis, fascists, etc. Otherwise, everything the party leaders and media say about this is empty rhetoric.
If they truly want us to continue to be like this, they need to do some soul searching. Many in OneIf the events of the weekend do not inspire that change, then as many of us already suspected, change is not coming.
