Former Vice Prime Minister of Canada, Christyre Freeland, on Friday, said President Donald Trump's Canadian tariff plan was the “silliest” in history about CNN's “Anderson Cooper 360.”
Freeland said: But what we know is that the Prime Minister is right. The Wall Street Journal is correct. These are the stupidest tariffs in history. This is completely self-saturated. It's a really twisted approach as America hurts itself and moves in this direction. ”
She continued. “The president is killing the US stock market. The stock market is actually performing worse than the European and Canadian stock markets. You are going to raise the price of gas. You are going to raise the price of groceries. You are going to make electricity more expensive. And what is it all for? Because Canadians aren't good enough. So this is just totally ridiculous. America is hurting itself.”
Freeland added: “The end result was to do something really hard to be hostile to Canadians. Now there's this wave of patriotism in Canada. We know that we're really good friends and really good neighbors for you, so we've really started to get hurt by this. We know that much of America's prosperity is built on the foundations of having Canada, the best neighbor in the world, to your north. But now I'm going to say Canadians are really angry.”
