Former Rep. Ken Buck (R-Colo.) said on CNN’s “News Central” on Friday that former President Donald Trump used tough language to embolden his supporters, but that he often “said one thing and did another.”
“I want to give you an example of what I’m hearing from Donald Trump, what he’s saying about targeting political opponents. He was just speaking with Hannity this week,” host Kate Bolduin said.
In an interview with Fox News Channel’s Sean Hannity, Trump said, “What happened to me has never happened before in this country. This has got to stop. I have every right to go after them at the end of this election based on what they did. And it’s easy because it’s Joe Biden.”
“My response is that Donald Trump says one thing and does another, and in some cases, that’s a blessing,” Buck said. “He said he wanted to arrest Hillary Clinton in 2016, took office in 2017, and then didn’t appoint a special counsel or tell the FBI to reinvestigate the case.”
She added, “I think his comments are meant to encourage his supporters and energize his voters, but again, I hope that those around Donald Trump will act responsibly and recognize that there is no place in this country for retaliation against political opponents.”
