Reflecting on Six Months of Trump’s Second Administration
On Sunday, it marked six months since Trump’s second term began. His first four years in office were quite successful, so I was really determined to see him win again. However, it seems to me that this second administration is already surpassing the first in significant ways.
This administration didn’t just talk the talk; it walked the walk.
After the challenges faced during Biden’s term, securing the U.S.-Mexico border effectively is one of the standout accomplishments of any administration. Despite predictions that Trump’s aggressive trade speech would upset the economy, the stock market actually reached record highs this week. Additionally, blue-collar wages are seeing their fastest growth in nearly 60 years.
In the context of the recent Iran crisis, I’m convinced that under previous presidents, we would have potentially entered a costly war. But with Trump at the helm, the U.S. has essentially dealt a severe blow to Iran’s nuclear ambitions—without any casualties—and even facilitated a ceasefire between Iran and Israel through negotiation.
Celebrating Big and Small Victories
Reflecting on the past six months, I find that the smaller victories resonate with me more than the headline-grabbing ones. This administration is committed to breaking free from the stale thinking that has plagued Washington for years.
Time and again, it has accomplished what past Republican administrations should have tackled but didn’t for some unclear reason. Take, for instance, the aftermath of the Jimmy Carter administration, which scrapped a successful federal aptitude test. While Reagan and the Bushes could have reinstated merit-based hiring, they didn’t. For over 45 years since then, our government has been mired in a system where diversity and inclusion often overshadow merit.
Now, this administration is finally taking steps to restore merit back into government hiring practices. Can you imagine that? It’s working against the entrenched discrimination based on race and gender that has been damaging to our foundational values. It’s purging commissions of political correctness and enforcing standardizations across the military while also sending signals to the private sector. This isn’t surface-level change; it’s a thorough dismantling of ideologies that undermine American principles.
Trump could have simply made speeches about supporting women’s sports, but this administration is genuinely stepping in to protect children from the harmful extremes of transgender ideologies.
Promises Delivered
Across the nation, healthcare providers are pulling away from procedures that involve transitioning minors, thanks to increased regulatory scrutiny from this administration. Major hospitals have stopped performing surgeries and providing puberty blockers to children amidst the administration’s vigorous stance on the issue.
This administration is stepping up efforts to safeguard children from those who exploit vulnerable minors under the banner of medical care.
Historically, Republicans have lamented sending billions in aid abroad but have rarely acted to change that—Trump actually pushed to reduce foreign aid to keep more American resources at home. It’s a story that’s long overdue for change.
For nearly two decades, the TSA’s requirement for passengers to remove their shoes before boarding flights has been seen as cumbersome. Yet, it was maintained under Bush, Obama, and Biden. Finally, this administration has removed that requirement.
While the Biden administration treated cryptocurrency like a dubious venture, Trump has embraced it with supportive legislation that positions the U.S. as a leader in this innovative industry.
This administration is not only advocating for change but also implementing practical measures at the ground level. Even the government has improved mundane details—like shower head water pressure. Attention to such small things signifies a commitment to common sense governance; that’s what ultimately benefits America as a whole.
