Border Patrol Operations Amid Immigration Crackdown

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has disclosed that around 2.5 million undocumented immigrants have departed the U.S. since President Donald Trump began his second term on January 20, 2025.

Within this timeframe, over 605,000 deportations have occurred as a result of DHS enforcement efforts, which aim to remove individuals deemed dangerous. This initiative is part of the administration’s broader strategy to restore order across the nation.

Moreover, it’s reported that 1.9 million undocumented immigrants have opted for self-deportation during this period.

A tweet from the DHS highlighted the achievement: “600k illegals have been deported from the interior of our country in less than 365 days, with another 1.9 million self-deporting, totaling over 2.5 million illegals gone. A monumental achievement!”

DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin remarked on this progress: “The Trump Administration is shattering historic records… Illegal aliens are hearing our message to leave now. They know if they don’t, we will find them, we will arrest them, and they will never return.”

In March, the DHS unveiled a program using the “CBP Home” app, incentivizing migrants to self-deport with offers like free flights back to their home countries, a $1,000 exit bonus, and waivers for civil penalties. This app replaced the previous “CBP One” app, which allowed undocumented individuals to book asylum appointments.

The success in immigration enforcement is attributed to the implementation of the Once Big Beautiful Bill Act, signed by President Trump. This legislation earmarked nearly $170 billion for immigration-related operations, including $45 million for increased detention capacity and $30 billion for enforcement actions.

These enforcement efforts have notably targeted liberal cities such as Chicago, Portland, Charlotte, and Minneapolis, focusing on apprehending those with extensive criminal records. According to the DHS, about 70% of the individuals arrested have prior convictions.

McLaughlin stated, “As the media whitewashes the facts, day in and day out, our brave men and women of ICE risk their lives for the American people. Americans don’t have to rely on the press for this information – with this transparent tool, they can see for themselves what public safety threats were lurking in their neighborhoods and communities.”

In contrast, during President Biden’s last year, slightly over 271,000 illegal aliens were deported, with just 142,000 recorded for the year 2023, according to ICE data.
