Survey Indicates Moore’s Lead in Alabama Republican Senate Primary
A recent survey by Peak Insights suggests that Rep. Barry Moore holds a significant lead in the Republican Senate primary in Alabama, especially when voters are made aware of President Donald Trump’s endorsement of his candidacy.
Conducted on January 28-29, 2026, the poll surveyed 400 likely Republican primary voters and has a margin of error of plus or minus 5 percentage points. The results show Moore’s approval at 33%, putting him 15 points ahead of his nearest competitor, Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall, who garnered 18%. Jared Hudson, the next candidate, received 11% support, while over 30% of those surveyed remained undecided.
The findings highlight the effectiveness of the pollsters’ messaging, explicitly stating that “President Trump fully and completely supports Barry Moore for U.S. Senate.” This framing could point to the potential for Moore’s lead to solidify if his campaign effectively communicates this backing to a wider audience.
Poll results indicate that Moore is ahead in all media markets and congressional districts in Alabama. Among those identified as “conservative” Republicans—who make up about 84% of the voter base—Moore boasts a 36% approval rating. He performs even better within the “Trump MAGA” faction, with a notable 43% approval compared to Marshall’s 17%.
In a statement following the poll’s release, Moore expressed gratitude for Trump’s support. “I thank President Trump for his support and am proud to stand with him as we continue to fight for America First policies. The people of Alabama have long supported President Trump, and I’m honored to have his backing,” he said.
Moore currently represents Alabama’s 2nd Congressional District. His campaign for the Senate was sparked by Sen. Tommy Tuberville’s decision to run for governor. Trump’s endorsement came on January 17, where he described Moore as “America’s first patriot” and praised his early support during Trump’s initial campaign. The former president also highlighted Moore’s legislative experience, business acumen, and his alignment with critical issues such as border security, election integrity, tax cuts, and energy independence.
Additionally, Moore has garnered support from the Club for Growth PAC, which labels him a “seasoned conservative champion,” and from Sen. Bernie Moreno (R-Ohio), who referred to Moore as an “America First Warrior” and the best candidate to represent Alabamians.
Speaking on January 24, Moore emphasized that to advance the America First agenda, terminating the Senate filibuster is necessary to stop Democrats from hindering essential priorities. He reiterated his commitment to pushing Trump’s policies by cutting unnecessary spending, securing borders and elections, and ensuring that the United States fulfills what he calls “the true city on a hill that President Reagan envisioned.”
