On Thursday, President Trump's Transport Secretary Sean Duffy gave Gov. Kathy Hochul a last-minute 30-day extension to scrap the congestion prices.
Duffy, a Tweet badly Sent one day before the federal government's original Friday deadline to end the controversial fee program, telling Hokul that Trump and the federal government are “notifying” her.
He blows up with the governor for her rudeness and refusing to finish “Cordon” pricing – perhaps a “crowded” typo.
“Your illegal pricing scheme charges working-class citizens to use the federal tax dollars they have already paid for construction,” he wrote, angrily, before giving Hochul some room.
“As the debate continues, we will provide New York with a 30-day extension.”
“Know that the billions of dollars the federal government sends to New York are not blank checks. Continuous violations will not be underestimated,” he warned.
Hochul and MTA officials have vowed to continue collecting $9 tolls from drivers despite previous deadlines imposed by the Fed.
They argued that the program is standing as long as it is limited to legal challenges to Duffy's move to Yank's approval of tolls through court.
Duffy's tweet suggests that Hochul's discussion with Trump over a pipeline deal could have led to an extension.
“It's against the best interests of the people to refuse to approve two important pipelines that reduce fuel costs by 50%, just like your high toll and no free road options, as a face slap on hardworking Americans,” he said.
