Conservatives and independents alike cheered on President Trump's landslide victory on November 6th.
“The country is saved! No more threat of World War III, no more having to choose between groceries and $7 a gallon of gas,” a cry of victory went up.
The media was lying about Donald Trump's intentions. Or maybe you just had a really bad experience with conservative people. In any case, people on the left panicked.
But while we revel in the joy of a second Trump presidency, let's keep in mind those on the other side of the aisle who are deeply distraught.
Thanks to accounts like Libs on TikTok, we know all too well how crazy and downright dangerous the left can be. But they are extremists. We should not let those on the margins be blind to the heartfelt (albeit irrational) despair of half the country.
The average Kamala Harris voter could be your sister, neighbor, aunt, friend, or colleague. And while they may be angry, anger usually comes from a place of deep hurt. As Ecclesiastes 3 says, “There is a time for everything, a time for silence and a time to speak, a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace.”
To those of you who voted for Trump, I urge you to think carefully about how you express your joy, rather than diminishing it.
A peek into social media provides a glimpse of what's on the “other side” and reveals a range of emotions, from anger to intense sadness. We may scoff at these “liberal tears,” but in some cases they can be a symptom of a deeper problem. At a mental health hotline, 700% in calls and texts from LGBTQ+ youth.
These are real people who are under the impression that they are in some kind of legitimate danger, whether or not it is based in reality. The media was lying about Donald Trump's intentions. Now our mission is to reach out to these people with love and at least try to communicate. We can't control how they will react, but that shouldn't stop us from trying.

Being a clean winner is just as important as being a clean loser. If you don't get this right, don't be surprised if the pendulum swings to the left, as it often does.
If this is truly a party of unity, let's start now. Don't invite only people who agree with you to join your group. Loving kindness won't appeal to everyone, but as Christians, conservatives, and independents, it may also reassure those on the left who don't want their rights taken away or harmed. yeah. We're not trying to capture them, we're hoping that President Trump will create a country where they too can thrive.
So let's celebrate Trump's victory! But please do it wisely and thoughtfully, and use that joy to make America great again for all Americans.
