Concerns Arise for Tua Tagovailoa and the Dolphins
Tua Tagovailoa has voiced his worries regarding the Miami Dolphins, particularly about the mindset of some teammates. He highlighted instances of players arriving late to important meetings that weren’t mandatory but certainly seemed crucial for team cohesion.
These comments followed the Dolphins’ disappointing loss to the Chargers, marking their fifth loss in just six weeks this season. In a moment of reflection, Tagovailoa mentioned, “I think it starts with leadership and communicating that clearly to the players.”
“We have expectations for our players—what we hope for, I guess. But, are we achieving that? Some players come late to meetings; some don’t attend at all. There’s a lot to consider here. Should we make this mandatory or leave it up to individual choice? It seems these small aspects are where we need to start addressing the bigger issues,” he elaborated.
Tagovailoa’s observations have been echoed by head coach Mike McDaniel, who acknowledged that some players’ attendance in these meetings was a concern. He said, “We were trying to communicate directly to correct that.”
The game’s outcome was particularly frustrating, with Chargers kicker Cameron Dicker sealing the victory with a last-minute field goal as the Dolphins’ struggles continued.
McDaniel, whose coaching has come under scrutiny this season, noted the importance of being transparent about accountability. “I think we’re open about all of this, and what’s non-negotiable. Obviously, he’s delivering a message,” he remarked.
Despite the team’s challenges, McDaniel expressed confidence that his players are executing their responsibilities effectively. “I’m sure anyone [Tagovailoa] is speaking with is also committed to delivering,” he added, perhaps with a flicker of hope amid the difficulties.
