Search for Tucson Woman in Kidnapping Case Continues
In Tucson, authorities are actively seeking Coral Michelle Smith, a 40-year-old woman wanted for her involvement in a kidnapping and assault case. Surprisingly, this situation is not connected to the case of Nancy Guthrie, an 84-year-old woman who went missing earlier this year.
The incident involving Smith took place on May 29, near the intersection of La Choya Boulevard and River Road, approximately 11.9 miles from Guthrie’s home. The Pima County Sheriff’s Office reported that the attack included the use of a deadly weapon. They are reaching out to the public for help in locating Smith.
It’s worth noting that authorities have not indicated any links between Smith and the Guthrie abduction. In fact, 88-Crime, the local Crime Stoppers affiliate, emphasized this point.
If anyone spots Smith, they are urged to contact 911 immediately and not to confront her directly. The community’s vigilance is needed, as the Pima County Sheriff continues to investigate both matters. There’s a $1,000 reward for information that leads to her capture.
Interestingly, Smith has a criminal history that includes previous charges of kidnapping and assault, though one prior kidnapping charge was dismissed. Nevertheless, she was convicted of burglary related to the same case, which involved a victim under the age of 15. Smith has been imprisoned multiple times and is known to have aliases like “Coral Albright” and “Under the Sea Smith.”
In addition to her legal troubles, Smith is described as being around 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing approximately 136 pounds with distinct tattoos, including a smiley face and a heart on her right ankle and the phrase “Love, Life, Family” on her left foot.
Meanwhile, as the investigation surrounding Nancy Guthrie continues—she is the mother of journalist Savannah Guthrie—citizens are reminded that her disappearance remains unsolved. Anyone with information regarding Guthrie’s case is encouraged to reach out to authorities at 1-800-CALL-FBI. There’s a significant reward, exceeding $1.2 million, for relevant tips that could lead to solutions in her case.
The community’s support is crucial during this challenging time, and all tips, whether anonymous or not, are valuable to law enforcement as they work tirelessly to resolve these pressing cases.
