Gabbard Critiques Comey’s Threatening Language
On Thursday, Tulsi Gabbard, the Director of National Intelligence, accused former FBI Director James Comey of intentionally using language that resembled mob-style threats. This statement came after Comey deleted an Instagram post featuring the number “8647” due to backlash, where critics suggested he was subtly promoting a threat against President Donald Trump.
During her appearance on “Jesse Watters: Primetime,” Gabbard dismissed Comey’s claims of ignorance about the meaning behind “8647,” especially considering his extensive background in law enforcement. “This is an outrageously ridiculous statement, particularly coming from someone who’s been an FBI director and has dealt with gangs throughout his career,” she remarked.
Gabbard pointed out that Comey himself acknowledged the post’s political nature. “He admitted in a follow-up message that he understood it was a political statement. The only reason Jesse was aware is because a month ago, a wave of anti-Trump and anti-Elon Musk protesters began adopting the slogan,” she said. “It’s quite hard to believe that someone of his experience thinks people wouldn’t see through those claims.”
She emphasized that the implications of such rhetoric should not be overlooked, especially given that Trump has already experienced two assassination attempts. “This is something that cannot be underestimated, Jesse. With two attempts on the president’s life, it raises serious concerns when someone like Comey, often heralded by the elite, makes such statements.”
During his 2024 campaign, Trump survived two assassination attempts: one during a rally in Pennsylvania in July and another at Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida.
Kristi Noem, Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, responded to the situation, stating that Comey seemed to endorse an assassination attempt on the 47th President. She assured that both the Secret Service and DHS would take any necessary action. FBI Director Kash Patel also indicated that the agency is aware of the post and is coordinating with both the Secret Service and Coach Shawn Curran.
