Turkish Man Arrested After Train Station Execution-Style Shooting

A Turkish national has been arrested in Germany in connection with the death of a man who was shot three times in the head, execution-style, at Frankfurt Central Station on Tuesday evening.

A 27-year-old man of Turkish origin was shot dead on Tuesday night at around 9pm local time on the platform of the main train station bound for the German city of Frankfurt. He was shot three times in the head and died at the scene.

German authorities said on Wednesday that a 54-year-old man, also of Turkish origin, had been arrested and taken before a local magistrate.

“We have applied for an arrest warrant against the suspect on the urgent charge of murder,” said Dominik Mies, a spokesman for the Frankfurt prosecutor’s office. According to To the German broadcaster NTV.

Mr Meese added that investigations were currently underway to determine whether the men knew each other, and that the investigation was “only in its early stages”.

Prosecutors said a 54-year-old man was seen approaching the victim and allegedly shooting him in the back of the head.

After the 27-year-old man fell to the platform floor, the suspect allegedly shot him two more times in the head before fleeing the scene.

However, federal police officers tracked down the Turkish national and arrested him near the murder scene before he could escape on a train.

Prosecutors said they had recovered what they believed to be the murder weapon and found that the suspect was registered in the German state of Baden-Württemberg.
