Law professor Jonathan Turley on Tuesday highlighted what he believed to be a “shocking” moment during special counsel Robert Hur’s congressional hearing.
The moment, Turley explained, was when Herr admitted that part of the evidence against Biden included audio recordings of conversations between Biden and the ghostwriter.
In these recordings, Biden told the ghostwriter that he knew he had classified material in his home, while also telling the ghostwriter that he knew he had classified material in his home, even though the writer had not obtained the classified information. It seemed like they were giving the writer access to the material.
“After all, you’re probably still wondering why [Biden] Mr. Huh was not indicted because he said, “Look, there is an audio tape in which the president mentions the fact that he found classified evidence in the basement of his home.” Well, I think we’re very aware of that,” Turley said. “But he kept coming back to the fact that the jury could have been persuaded that this was a kindly older man with memory problems.”
In his testimony, Mr. Xu repeatedly emphasized that his investigation did not exonerate President Joe Biden of breaking the law.
Instead, Mr. He explained that he chose not to prosecute Biden because he felt he might not be able to prove the case beyond a reasonable doubt. . ”
The explanation, Thali I said it laterappears to say that Mr. Xu found evidence in his investigation that Mr. Biden met the statutory elements of federal law against unauthorized retention of classified materials, creating a “strange disconnect.”
He explained:
[Hur] He presented extremely convincing evidence. It was like playing a game of clues and knowing the weapon, location, and suspect, but Colonel Mustard had no recollection of how he got there. And he basically said, “You can’t prosecute on this alone.”
He told how Biden told someone he had found classified documents in the basement of his home and had read some of the documents to a third party. How evidence regarding the audio tapes was suppressed by this ghostwriter. How the White House intervened in an attempt to delete facts in order to incorporate into the report a series of contradictions in what Joe Biden has said in the past, as well as what he has said after the interview.
Mr. Turley concluded that Mr. Hur presented “the best case I could imagine” against Mr. Biden.
