Turning Point Action Straw Poll Shows J.D. Vance Favored for Trump VP

Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio) won a weekend poll run by Turning Point Action’s People’s Convention asking people who they would like to see as former President Donald Trump’s vice president.

Big Data Poll conducted a public opinion survey of 1,986 convention attendees, found The poll found that 43% support Vance running to be Trump’s vice president. Daily MailCharlie Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA, described Vance as one of Trump’s “most effective and articulate defenders and surrogates.”

Other candidates being considered for the vice presidential running in the primary were Sen. Tim Scott (R-South Carolina), Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) and Governor Doug Burgum (R-North Dakota).

According to the outlet, Scott received 15.4 percent, Rubio received 7.7 percent and Burgum received 7 percent.

“He has consistently been one of President Trump’s most effective and articulate defenders and surrogates, and he spoke well to the Midwestern Americans who attended the Detroit conference,” Kirk told the outlet about Vance.

“These are the very blue wall voters we must win over to take back the White House in November,” Kirk added. “Vance’s message and appeal are clearly resonating with this important voting bloc.”

During an interview with CNN Laura Coates Live On Friday, Ashley Etienne, former communications director for Vice President Kamala Harris, said Vance posed “the biggest threat to Kamala Harris” during the debate.

Etienne added that Vance was a “great debater” and had “qualities that make him accessible” to the 1 or 2 percent of people.

“I think he has the qualities of being very smart, very sharp and very resourceful,” Etienne added.

Vance won the November 2022 U.S. Senate election in Ohio, defeating his Democratic opponent, former Congressman Tim Ryan.

Vance has been a vocal supporter of the former president, calling it “absurd” that Trump endangered lives on Jan. 6, 2021. After a Manhattan jury convicted Trump in late May, Vance said Trump’s business records trial was “the definition of fascism.”
