Outland (Peter Hyams, 1981), 9 p.m., 5 actions.
Peter Hyams’ 1981 sci-fi thriller, essentially about high noon in space, is one of the better films released after the groundbreaking Alien (the film’s composer Jerry Goldsmith provides similarly unsettling music here). Sean Connery is the last good man standing as the federal marshal of a mining colony on Jupiter’s moon Io. When he interferes with an illegal (company-approved) trade in performance-enhancing amphetamines, a hitman is sent after him. Dirty and easy to grab. Simon Wardell
