TV tonight: why are our roads in such a state of crisis? | Television

Dispatch: The war on British motorists

8pm, Channel 4
Potholes! The fight for low-traffic zones! Confusion over electric cars! In this issue of Dispatches, Dispatches say Britain’s roads are in crisis and it couldn’t come at a worse time for drivers. Journalist Ginny Buckley dives into the deep end to investigate these big issues, revealing how much these repairs and schemes are costing taxpayers, and asking an even bigger question: is the UK really ready to switch to a fossil-free future of motor transport? Murder, they want

9pm, BBC Two
The silly sitcom/detective hybrid ends with two mysteries. It’s Gemma and Terry’s (Sian Gibson and Johnny Vegas) wedding day, but things are derailed by the uninvited family of Gemma’s mother’s new boyfriend. Things get horrifying even before one of them is stabbed with a sword. There are a few nods to The Shining and Succession. jack seal

The musical legend of Johnson and Knopfler

10pm, Sky Arts
Brian and Mark’s guest this week is Carlos Santana, a Grammy Award-winning guitar virtuoso and “really nice guy.” He was once a popular figure in San Francisco’s psychedelic music scene, fusing Latin and African rhythms with the blues to “fuse sex and the sacred,” and convert rock mysticism into “timeless music.” Expressed as. It’s really fun. Ali Catterall

It’s been a bad week for Calvary’s Brendan Gleeson. Photo: Cinematic/Alamy

Calvary (John Michael McDonagh, 2014)), 2.05pm, Sky Cinema Greats
If there’s any doubt that Brendan Gleeson is one of the great actors of our time, John Michael McDonagh’s 2014 drama will convince you. He stars as Father James, a small-town Irish priest who, during his confession, is secretly told that someone will “kill him within a week.” The man was raped by a priest as a boy and attempts to kill James in revenge. James grapples with the possibility of a death sentence while continuing his duties as a pastor. Gleeson oozes intelligence, compassion, and humor in a film filled with smart dialogue. Simon Wardell

The Sorcerers (Michael Reeves, 1967), 11:15pm, Legends XtrOne
One of only three films made by Witchfinder executive director Michael Reeves before his untimely death, this quirky, chilling effort contrasts the swinging Sixties generation with their more staid forebears, revealing that human nature can always be warped. Medical hypnotist Marcus (Boris Karloff) and his wife Estelle (Catherine Lacey) invent a machine that can control the minds of others and choose reckless young Mike (Ian Ogilvy) as their first test subject. They become vicarious thrill-seekers, fast and dizzying like a proto-being John Malkovich. South Wales
