Two Australians and three Indonesians survive helicopter crash in Bali, officials say | Bali

Two Australians and three Indonesians survived a tourist helicopter crashed in Bali after it became tangled in kite strings, authorities said.

A Bell 505 Jet Ranger X helicopter owned by PT White Sky Aviation crashed in Pecatu village, a coastal area in southern Bali, Indonesia’s Ministry of Transport said in a statement.

Photos released by Indonesia’s search and rescue agency showed the helicopter, carrying five people including a crew member and passengers, crashing into a limestone cliff.

“All victims were safely evacuated,” Bali authorities said in a statement on Friday. Three of the victims were taken to hospital for further treatment.

Indonesia, a vast archipelago nation with a population of about 270 million, has been plagued by road accidents in recent years, including plane crashes and ferry sinkings.

Authorities said they were sending investigation teams to the crash site for further investigation.
