Outrage Over Surrogacy Video

The unsettling realities of surrogacy have made headlines again this week. An Instagram video shared by musician Shane McAnally has ignited significant backlash, particularly from conservative audiences.

In the video, which was posted just a few days ago, a man—believed to be McAnally or his partner Michael Bohm—can be seen separating their newly adopted third child, Texon, from his biological mother moments after birth. The scene, unsettling to many, showcases the man repeatedly asking the baby, “Which do you want, dada or pop?”

Interestingly, throughout the video, the infant emits sounds resembling “mama,” which adds to the discomfort. The moment the baby cries out for his mother, the man feigns surprise, responding with, “No way, Jose.” This interaction seems to disturb the child, who visibly begins to cry.

According to sources, Texon was delivered in late October 2025 and was immediately placed in the care of the same-sex couple. As the video unfolds, the baby’s tears intensify, leading the men behind the camera to laugh, dismissing the child’s cries for “mama.” The man in the video remarks, “You don’t have a mom. It’s such a shame. You have a dada and a pop,” echoing this sentiment by insisting, “There’s no mommy.”

Michael Knowles, a commentator from the Daily Wire, described the footage as “the scariest video I’ve ever seen in my life,” a sentiment echoed by many Instagram users. Comments from viewers reflected a collective concern for the child’s well-being, with one stating, “It’s vital to remember that it’s the child’s right to have parents.” Another comment urged, “That’s not funny. Someone please save this baby :(” One user questioned the rationale behind putting adults’ needs before a child’s, stating that many seek therapy to heal from the trauma of growing up without a mother.

In other unrelated posts, McAnally seems to make light of his children’s reactions, referring to them as “homophobic babies.” In one video from December, he showcases Texon, who stops smiling when it’s mentioned that they have two dads. McAnally and Bohm have reportedly been together since 2012 and have a son and daughter named Dash and Dylan, respectively.
