A Blue Sky account linked to Cole Allen, the shooter at the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner, suggests he was a strong supporter of Ukraine—a sentiment also shared by the man who attempted to assassinate former President Donald Trump. Allen, a teacher from California, reportedly labeled Trump a “sociopath mob boss” on a left-leaning social media platform. He is currently facing two preliminary criminal charges following the incident at the Washington Hilton Hotel where Trump was hosting a dinner. Sources say Allen voiced “support for Ukraine” during his career.
“Hello! I’m a California guy who posts about American politics, support for Ukraine, and observing small creatures,” one of the profiles stated. This account, identified as “coldForce,” was linked to Allen, who belonged to a post-millennial demographic, according to an anonymous government official.
A user on this account also insulted Vice President Vance by calling him a “slut,” referencing a video in which Vance expressed pride in the Trump administration’s decision to cut aid to Ukraine. Vance was present at the dinner when Allen discharged multiple rounds.
Cole Allen, the shooter at last night’s WH Correspondents’ Dinner, maintained an active presence online, going by the handle, particularly on the left-wing social media platform Bluesky. There are multiple references to violence and guns.
In another derogatory post, Allen commented on being “proud that we don’t keep our promises,” criticizing Vance’s views on taxpayer attitudes towards Ukraine.
In a parallel case, Ryan Routh, who tried to kill Trump on September 15, 2024, also claimed to support Ukraine. He expressed a desire to volunteer at the Ukrainian border in a 2022 Twitter post, stating he was ready to “die fighting.” Routh received a life sentence in February.
Routh’s support for Ukraine was so intense that the Ukrainian Foreign Legion officially disavowed him, labeling his ideas as “delusional.” The head of the corps, Oleksandr Shagri, noted that Routh had contacted military units multiple times, but they turned him down, as his offers weren’t considered realistic.
Routh, in a 2023 interview, claimed to have spent several months in Ukraine in 2022. He also mentioned plans to recruit Afghan defectors from the Taliban for pro-Ukrainian efforts, asserting that many expressed interest. He intended to transport supposed soldiers from various regions to Eastern Europe.
Furthermore, the Justice Department indicated that in April 2025, Routh attempted to acquire rockets to shoot down Trump’s plane. He allegedly told a contact, “[S]Please finish the RPG or Stinger, let’s see what we can do… [Trump] That’s not good for Ukraine.”
