baby box It was created to stop parents from abandoning their newborns, sometimes resulting in their death. Baby boxes are temperature-controlled incubators that are often built into the exterior walls of fire stations, police stations, and hospitals and can be accessed from inside. At-risk mothers can safely and legally keep their newborns indoors. The outside door is then locked, giving the mother time to escape before the alarm goes off and alerts the paramedics and hospital staff inside.

The baby will then be immediately removed and sent to the hospital for health checks. From there, the baby is usually taken into state custody and is often immediately adopted.

The Little Rock Fire Department hosted a public dedication ceremony for the baby box on Wednesday. The pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, which funded the installation of the baby box, blessed the box during the ceremony, the report said.

“Our ultimate responsibility in each case was to protect the health of the infant,” Scott said. “With the installation of the Safe Haven Baby Box, a parent in crisis will have the last resort to surrender her newborn and ensure the health and safety of her child 24/7.”

“While we regret that these are necessary, we appreciate the support of Calvary Baptist Church, Chief Hubbard, the Fire Department, and others who worked hard to install the first baby boxes in Little Rock,” he added. Ta.
