Two adorable juvenile kittens who were “catnipped” at the Florida Humane Society have been safely returned after being snatched from their cages.

Two kittens named Mitch and Marcus were “brazenly stolen” from a cage in a “restricted” area of ​​the shelter on Thursday, according to the Tampa Bay Humane Society.

The shelter said Mitch and Marcus were placed in a kitten nursery because they are underage and vulnerable.

The Humane Society of Tampa Bay announced that Mitch and Marcus were returned through the combined efforts of the Tampa Bay community and the Tampa Police Department.

The organization said Sgt. District 1 Detective Squad Supervisor Scott Savitt and Detective Jody Maxim, along with another of his TPD officers, did everything in their power to retrieve the kitten after receiving a tip from a resident in the area. .

“We can’t thank everyone enough for sharing, commenting and sending us messages about Mitch and Marcus’ safe return,” the Humane Society of Tampa Bay said in a Facebook post.

After the kittens were returned to their cozy cages, they were examined and determined to be healthy.

“Tests show the kittens are healthy and thriving! You are all our heroes!” the shelter said.
