Two Marines in their 20s identified as service members killed in fatal accident

The two service members who died in a crash near Santa Teresa, New Mexico earlier this week were 22-year-old Lance CPL. Albert A. Aguilera and 28-year-old Lance Cpl of Riverside, California. Marcelino M. Gamano of Fresno, California, according to the 1st Marine Division.

“Officers of the 1st Marine Division identified two Marines who were killed after a vehicle accident on April 15th. “A collision occurred during a convoy movement near Santa Teresa, New Mexico.”

According to a press release on April 17, both men were combat engineers, but also noted that another Marine was undergoing treatment in a critical condition.

“The three Marines were taken to University Medical Hospital in El Paso, Texas, where Aguilar and Gamano were declared dead,” the release stated. “The incident is under investigation.”

The injured service members are with the 1st Battle Engineer Battalion, as well as the two Marines whose 1st Marines have died.

“Lance Cpl. Aguilera and Lance Cpl. The loss of Gamino is deeply felt by all of us,” said Tyron A. Barriorion, a US Marine Officer Commander of the 1st Combat Engineer Battalion and Task Force, according to a press release.

“I will spread my sincere sadness and prayers to the families of my brothers who have fallen. Our top priority now is to ensure that their families and the affected Marines who have passed away are fully supported during this difficult time.”
