Two high school students were stabbed after a fight in a stairwell inside a New York City public high school Thursday afternoon, police confirmed.
According to the New York City Police Department (NYPD), the assault occurred around 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Martin Van Buren High School on Hillside Avenue in Queens Village, Queens.
Police said two 17-year-old students were attacked in a stairwell.
One student was stabbed in the abdomen and another in the shoulder.

Both boys were taken to Cohen Children’s Medical Center in stable condition, police said.
One person was taken into custody in connection with the attack, police said, but no charges were immediately filed.

Video of the attack obtained by Fox News Digital showed a crowd of students fighting on the high school steps for more than a minute.

The video showed one student throwing himself at another student, followed by a violent fight.
Later in the video, a large group of students could be seen violently punching and kicking each other.

Students at Martin Van Buren High School have described the horrifying moments after the attack as the school went into lockdown.
“I was in the hallway with my friends, having a nice lunch, and out of nowhere I saw everyone being taken to the library,” the student told FOX News Digital. “Then I heard a police car and was informed that there was a lockdown.”

Another student said he was excluded from a large high school.
Another student said, “When I looked, everyone was in the corner.” “So I asked the gym teacher and she said they were looking for a child and there had been a stabbing.”
